Engineering is one of the most preferred career choices for many students after passing their class 12th exam. The Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) is the 4-year full-time undergraduate course leading to the engineering degree. An engineering education offers a wide range of career opportunities. Candidates should have passed their Higher Secondary Certificate or (10+2)its equivalent examination from a recognized university to get admission in this course with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks. B.Tech admissions in India are conducted at national and state level. Some institutes like VIT and SRM conduct their own institute specific entrance exam.

Students must have pass Class 12 in Science stream.
The students must have Chemistry, Mathematics, and Physics as the subjects in Class 12.
Physics, Mathematics, and English as compulsory subjects along with with Chemistry or Biotechnology or Biology or any technical vocational subjects as optional with a minimum of 50% marks taken together in Physics, Mathematics and any one of the optional subjects.
Some colleges may have their previously defined criteria for minimum marks scored in class 12 (i.e. at least 50%, 60% or 70%) in order to get admission.
Students must score at least 50% of marks in Class 12 to be eligible for B.Tech admission in engineering colleges.
Students belonging to reserved categories such as SC/ ST will have relaxation of up to 5% in the minimum qualifying marks.
The duration of the undergraduate engineering course is Four Years.
The course is divided into eight semesters.
The course is made up of class room study which includes lectures, seminars, practicals, projects/research work and industrial training.
The first year of study is common for all b.tech aspirants.
In the second, third year and and Fourth year students study subjects as per their chosen specialization.
B.Tech admission process begin in the month of March or April.
The national, state or Private Universities Conduct entrance exam process for B.Tech admission in March/ April.
JEE Main is the widely acceptable entrance test, and most of the engineering colleges in India accept JEE Mains score for B.Tech admissions.
Several state-level engineering entrance exams are also available, However, state-level engineering entrance exams are confined to a specific state.
Several college and universities accept both national-level and state-level engineering entrance test Score.
In most private engineering colleges direct admission is made through the use of management quota where the fees collected for management quota admissions is higher in comparison to admission based on entrance-based admissions.
For admission into government institutes such as IITs, NITs, IIITs the candidate must prepare for JEE Main/ JEE Advanced.
For admission into state-level best engineering colleges entrance exam the candidate must prepare for entrance exam conducted by state.
For admission into Private or deemed university the candidate must prepare for their respective entrance exam.
IIT Admission Process
Qualifying JEE Advanced entrance Exam is Mandatory for admission in Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs).
The candidated must first qualify JEE Mains Exam.Top 1,50,000 to 2,00,000 qualifiers of JEE Main will be shortlisted for the second stage of admission process.JEE Main exam conducted National Testing Agency (NTA)
The candidated shortlisted for the second stage of IIT B.Tech admission process must qualify JEE Advanced exam conducted by IITs.JEE Advanced exam is conducted by IITs.
JEE Advanced qualifiers must register for centralised admission process for IITs conducted by JoSAA (Joint Seat Allocation Authority).
NIT Admission Process
Qualifying JEE Mains entrance Exam is Mandatory for admission in National Institutes of Technology (NITs).
The candidated then register for JEE Main qualifiers for centralised admission process for NITs admission conducted by JoSAA (Joint Seat Allocation Authority).
NITs will release opening and closing ranks for NIT B.Tech courses. If the candidates secure the opening or closing rank prescribed by respective NIT, he/ she will get admission.
