Want to take B.Tech Admission in Abroad? Consider these guidelines

Engineering is one of the widely chosen career choices after passing class 12th exam. The Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) is a 4-year full-time undergraduate course leading to an engineering degree. Engineering education offers a wide range of career opportunities. Candidates should have passed their Higher Secondary Certificate or (10+2) its equivalent examination from a recognized university to get admission in this course with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks. B.Tech admissions in India are conducted at the national and state level. Some institutes like VIT and SRM conduct their own institute specific entrance exam.

For getting admission to an engineering college abroad, students need to give English Language proficiency exams like IELTS, TOEFL, and PTE. Also, for getting into an undergraduate course, students need to give standardized exams like the SAT and ACT. The exams can vary from university to university, so, students should know which exam to give for which course to study abroad.

Eligibility:

  • For studying for an undergraduate degree, you must have completed your 12th standard from a recognized education board.
  • Language proficiency exams IELTS, TOEFL, PTE, and standardized exams like SAT or ACT.

Entrance Exam for Abroad Admission

SAT

SAT exam is conducted by the College Board for the students who want to secure admissions at an undergraduate level. The SAT exam consists of 4 sections that evaluate the mathematical, writing, verbal, and reading skills of a candidate. There are two types of SAT exam “SAT Reasoning Test” and “SAT Subject Test”. SAT is a Writing-based examination. There are no eligibility criteria and age limitations set by the conducting body for enrollment. The duration of the SAT exam is 3 hours without the essay section and 3 hours and 50 minutes with the Essay. SAT Test is conducted 7 times annually. The SAT exam has a minimum and maximum score range of 400 to 1600 and the average SAT score is 1060. There are currently 74 Test Centers in different cities across India.

ACT

The ACT exam is conducted by ACT (American College Testing) for the students who want to study undergraduate courses in the US and CANADA. This exam consists of four sections that evaluate the mathematical, verbal, reasoning, and writing skills of the students. Students can also opt for the optional writing exam. The duration of the ACT exam is 2 hours and 55 minutes without writing and 3 hours and 35 minutes with writing. ACT exam Score is valid for a period of five years. The ACT exam is conducted on different dates for US and Non-US residents. Generally, ACT Exams are conducted 7 times a year. A student can appear for a maximum of 12 ACT exams in his lifetime.

GRE

GRE Test is conducted by Educational Testing Service (ETS) for the students who want to enroll for the graduate programs. GRE Test score is valid for admission to master’s and doctorate degrees courses.

TOEFL

The TOEFL iBT® test measures your ability to use and understand English at the university level. And it evaluates how well you combine your reading, listening, speaking, and writing skills to perform academic tasks. The test is conducted in the TOEFL iBT (Internet-based Test) format and TOEFL PBT (Paper-based Test) format. There are no specific eligibility criteria for appearing in the exam.

IELTS

The International English Language Testing System (IELTS) is designed to assess the language ability of candidates who need to study or work in an English speaking country. IELTS is managed by three reputable, international organizations – British Council, IDP: IELTS Australia, and the University of Cambridge ESOL Examinations (Cambridge ESOL). It covers four basic language skills – listening, reading, writing, and speaking.

Scope of BE/BTech Abroad:

Those who complete B. Tech in any discipline is designated as engineers. Getting a good job after graduation is a major concern for most of the students.
