MBA Admission Process in India       

The admission in the management courses is provided on the basis of national-level management entrance exams. Candidates can appear in CAT (Common Admission Test) for admission in IIMs and all the other MBA institutions anywhere in India. Apart from CAT, there are other nationalized entrance exams also like MAT, CMAT, XAT, GMAT, ATMA, etc.

After clearing the entrance exam, candidates have to appear in PI (personal interview) and GD (group discussion) for admission.

These are the basic requirements for MBA admission in India, but some prestigious colleges ask for more, like work experience.

  • XLRI Jamshedpur asks its applicants for 5 Years of work experience, that too in Managerial or Supervisory roles in some of their management programs.
  • IIT Bombay asks for a mandatory 4 years of graduation course, and not 3.
  • For admission in  IIT Kharagpur, students need to have either completed their 4 years of graduation or should have done a master’s in Science, Economics, or Commerce.

According to the rules of UGC, institutes or colleges affiliated to any University can offer MBA (Masters in Business Administration) Courses on the other hand any private business school or autonomous body can offer PGDM (Post Graduate Diploma in Management).
